About GRE
The GRE General Test measures your verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills. It is accepted by thousands of graduate and business schools globally, including top MBA programs, master's degrees, and doctoral programs. The test is administered year-round at test centers and at home via the GRE General Test at Home option.
Test Format
- Analytical Writing — 60 minutes, 2 tasks: an "Issue" essay and an "Argument" essay measuring critical thinking and analytical writing.
- Verbal Reasoning — 60 minutes, 2 sections with 40 total questions covering reading comprehension, text completion, and sentence equivalence.
- Quantitative Reasoning — 70 minutes, 2 sections with 40 total questions covering arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis.
- Unscored/Research — An unidentified unscored section or identified research section that does not count toward your score.
